Kodak Alaris captures Scanner Line of the Year Award
Kodak Alaris’ Information Management division has earned the 2017 Scanner Line of the Year award from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), the US-based independent test and analysis firm for the global digital imaging industry.
This annual award recognises the manufacturer whose current portfolio has fared best overall in BLI’s lab-based evaluations.
According to BLI, the models tested turned in impressive results when evaluated for specific attributes, such as reliability, image quality, optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy and productivity.
“Kodak Alaris scanners typically earn a rating of ‘Excellent’ on our rigorous reliability tests, which means they exhibit few if any misfeeds when we run the machine to its maximum rated daily volume,” US Lab Manager Joe Ellerman noted.
“Kodak Alaris holds the most Pick awards out of any scanner manufacturer tested by BLI and winning the Scanner Line of the Year two years in a row is a significant achievement,” said Siddhartha Bhattacharya, vice president of global marketing for Kodak Alaris’ Information Management division.
“These awards validate our commitment to providing an unmatched portfolio of information management solutions that enable customers to achieve digital transformation. The combination of our science, technology and partnerships acts as a force multiplier and provides the ecosystem required for companies large and small to use data to drive business efficiency, profitability, and growth.”
Other 2017 Line of the Year Award winners were:
- Canon for 2017 A3 MFP Line of the Year;
- Brother for 2017 Monochrome Printer/MFP Line of the Year;
- Lexmark for 2017 Color Printer/MFP Line of the Year; and
- Xerox Corporation for 2017 Document Imaging Software Line of the Year.
“Canon’s A3 products continue to be consistently outstanding from top to bottom,” said George Mikolay, BLI Senior Editor for A3 MFPs. “An astounding misfeed rate of just one nearly every 400,000 impressions, simple procedures for replacing components, outstanding operability and a ‘know one, know all’ philosophy provide users with unparalleled uptime regardless of how large or small their workgroup is.”
Peter Britliff Senior Manager – Product Marketing at Canon Australia said we are honoured to receive the BLI award for A3 MFP Line of the Year.
“Since its introduction in 2009, customers have turned to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE line to help further business opportunities through the use of efficient, security capable and customisable office solutions.
“Focusing on meeting a diverse range of needs across various markets, Canon continues to provide flexible enterprise technology that enables customers to get back to business, spending more time on the task at hand and less time performing administrative tasks.”
OmniPage Server was awarded the Outstanding OCR Processing Platform for 2016.
“Putting OCR processing within reach of just about any business process or application—without requiring a dedicated front-end capture/conversion product or a lot of custom coding—is a boon to companies that need to transform hardcopy and static electronic documents to editable text, but who don’t want to disrupt the programs and process they currently have in place,” said Jamie Bsales, Director, Office Workflow Solutions Analysis at BLI.
Announced in association with the new version of Nuance’s Capture Software Development Kit (CSDK) in August 2016, OmniPage Server gives developers and business process owners a sophisticated new tool for high volume document conversion that can be run standalone as a complete solution or connected to business system applications for more comprehensive workflows.
Chris Strammiello, Nuance VP of global alliances and strategic marketing, said, “Through our CSDK solution, we are familiar with the myriad ways organisations customise capture technology and incorporate it into strategic workflows and innovative solutions. However, not every organisation has the capabilities and resources to invest in a full SDK. To help those organisations the OmniPage Server is purpose built to enable Capture technology with minimal heavy lifting. We’re gratified that in their award, BLI recognises the capabilities of our solution and how organisations can use it to enhance their organisation.”
