ATOMM technology to realise 200MB floppy

Fujifilm has announced the release of 3.5" HiFD 200MB Floppy Disk, a new removable storage medium using ATOMM Technology.

The product is expected to have broad appeal to consumers and businesses alike.

Fujifilm's Advanced super Thin layer and high Output Metal Media (ATOMM) Technology has been applied to a number of data storage systems by leading hardware manufacturers.

It is used in three popular and widely used data storage products including Zip disks, DLT tape and DDS-3 data.

ATOMM Technology features a remarkably thin 0.1 to 0.5 micron upper layer of metal particles simultaneously coated over a non-magentic layer of titanium compound called Titan -Fine.

The high density ultra-thin upper layer of magnetic material attains a highly smooth, glossy finish which provides superior performance for durability, drop-outs and output.

This is made possible by the extremely hard, smooth surface created during simultaneous coating of the minute spherical particles in the titan fine lower layer.
