Insight's latest appointments

Insight Technologies Asia Pacific has announced the appointment of Girish Kotwal as senior project manager and Rebecca Liang as senior technical services consultant.

Mr Kotwal brings to Insight a wealth of experience in document management having previously worked for FileNet and having over 10 years experience of IT project management, manufacturing, business management, systems analysis and implementation experience with blue chip organisations. He will be responsible for Insight's business development and the implementation of a combination of business systems, project management, engineering, team management and project infrastructure in the region.

Ms Liang will be specialising in providing educational and technical support to Insight's clients and partners as well as pre-sales and post sales implementation support. She was previously employed with FileNet.

RMIT chooses Visio Standard

The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) has chosen Visio Standard as its business diagramming product of choice.

The evaluation by RMIT Technisearch PC Test Lab assessed the feature sets, ease of use, functionality, installation and compatibility of Micrografx FlowCharter 7.0 and Visio Standard 5.0 and the study concluded that Visio Standard was easier to use and more intuitive.

Oracle and IBM join forces

Oracle and IBM have announced the creation of a strategic solutions partnership for a range of products, solutions and consulting services.

The partnership is designed to integrate into an ongoing global initiative for customers in small and medium-sized organisations, as well as departments of large corporate environments. The first product to be offered as a result of the partnership will be Oracle8 database server software as a trial licence with IBM Netfinity servers.

PeopleSoft appoints sales director

PeopleSoft has appointed Craig Foster as southern region sales director.

Mr Foster will spearhead sales development and customer support in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. He has over 12 years IT experience and was previously employed with Siemens Nixdorf.

Masterpack & Seagate in agreement

Sydney-based Masterpack International, a developer of process software for distribution companies, has signed an OEM agreement with Seagate Software. Under the terms of the agreement, Masterpack will interface Seagate Software's reporting and OLAP system, Crystal Info, to its Masterpack sales and supply chain management software.

Seagate acquires Eastman's SMG

Seagate Software has announced the $US10 million cash acquisition of Eastman Software's Storage Management Group (SMG).

Eastman's SMG will join the Network and Storage Management Group (NSMG) of Seagate Software.
