Canon's multifunction document system

Canon has released a five-in-one desktop multifunction system - the MultiPASS L90, which delivers the functionality of a 4ppm laser printer, a fast plain paper fax, a PC fax, a scanner and a copier.

MultiPASS Desktop Manager 2.0 for Windows is compatible with Windows 95 and Windows 3.1x and provides access to laser printing, PC faxing, scanning and telephone functions.

Users can receive and store incoming faxes on hard disk, scan text and images for use in PC applications, print stored faxes or scanned documents, dial fax or phone numbers directly from a PC's address book, program fax machine settings on screen or print and fax directly from standard Windows applications.

The MP-L90 provides 600dpi laser printing from a 250 sheet paper tray and can be used as a convenience copier up to 99 copies at time. It supports the TWAIN scanning standard and allows text and graphics to be imported into documents.

A 14.4Kbps modem dispatches documents at around six seconds per page and the unit has a 30-sheet automatic document feeder, with memory for up to 138 pages.
