Solution 6 lands FishTech

Australian company Solution 6 has diversified its interests outside its core business of accounting software with its acquisition of FishTech & Partners for $19 million in stock.

FishTech constructed the back end for Solution 6's new Centrum subsidiary, which is an application service provider (ASP) operation. FishTech is a specialist at enterprise application integration, particularly in Lotus Notes and Domino environments.

Darren Adams, the former Australian MD of PC DOCS, has also been appointed regional sales manager at Solution 6.

Microsoft plans SQL for Win2K

Even as Microsoft released the much-anticipated Windows 2000 operating system update with promises of greater stability, it was already preparing for the upcoming release of SQL Server 2000, which it hopes will silence doubts about scalability.

Also expected later this year is Exchange 2000, which will fully integrate the Extensible Markup Language (XML) as the standard for sharing metadata between documents and applications within a Microsoft architecture.

Minter Ellison picks Ringtail

Minter Ellison has become the first Canberra-based law firm to install the Ringtail Casebook information management application.

Casebook, previously known as Lantern, will be used by the firm to support government litigation and due diligence matters where there is much paper work.

John Weber, partner at Minter Ellison, said the software complements moves by courts to have evidence presented electronically.
