Autonomy puts SharePoint users in control of multimedia

February 26, 2009: ControlPoint for Multimedia is a new solution from Autonomy to the challenge of controlling multimedia files on SharePoint.

It uses an advanced conceptual approach to analyse and retrieve the rich media content within MOSS, without relying solely on the manual tagging of metadata. Users are presented with the most relevant content, both textual and non-textual, that is conceptually related to the selected rich media file in an intuitive interface.

The exponential growth of rich media content, such as online videos, podcasts and VoIP recordings, has led to the proliferation of unstructured information in the enterprise. The proper management of these valuable yet unwieldy assets requires a sophisticated multimedia technology that can analyse the content beyond keywords and metadata.

Autonomy's solution is aimed at aiding knowledge management and eDiscovery by offering the ability to de-duplicate, cluster, and retrieve rich media content in an automated fashion.

Users have the ability to combine conceptual ideas and search phrases with metadata such as date, speaker, inbound/outbound, duration and emotion to quickly cull the most likely content for further processing. A wide range ofvisualization tools help users categorise files and discern the range of subjects covered by rich media files.
