In practice, managing e-discovery requires expertise, experience and careful attention to detail. E-Litigation Solutions provides consulting and project management services to law firms and corporates in the e-discovery, information management and legal technology areas. Specific areas of service include e-discovery planning, pre-discovery conferences, project management and vendor management. Founder and CEO David McGrath, an Australian litigation practitioner and legal technology professional for over 20 years, has extensive e-discovery, information management and legal technology experience.
In this age of voluminous electronic information, effective e-discovery has become an important aspect of modern day litigation practice. In response, a growing e-discovery industry, estimated to be worth $4B in the US alone in 2010, has emerged. This means e-discovery service components like document processing and software hosting can be successfully outsourced. Poor ediscovery practices can cost dearly. The e-discovery process itself can be a headache with traps for the unwary. War stories abound where poor e-discovery practices have cost litigants, and in some cases, their representatives, dearly.
This is perhaps not surprising given the large volumes of documents and range of technical issues which can arise. The process is complicated by trying to keep a lid on costs whilst demonstrating compliance with discovery rules and preservation of evidence integrity.
So that their lawyers can focus on legal analysis, larger law firms invest in a manager, and sometimes whole teams of staff, to provide this expertise. There are many other organisations that need to use e-discovery who are not in a position to retain specialist staff that function on a full-time basis. E-Litigation Solutions was established to provide these organisations with cost effective access to e-discovery expertise on an as needed basis.
