Former TOWER exec joins the Obsecure Board

Straughan Schofield has joined the Board of Directors at obsecure, an Australian cyber security software company that provides high security information transfer solutions that integrate directly with Document Management Systems and Line of Business Applications

Straughan is an information management systems specialist with over 35 years experience. Straughan has over 19 years experience with TOWER Software in primarily management roles and was a Director on the TOWER Board for 17 years. During Straughan's time on the board, the company grew from 11 staff in Australia to over 250 worldwide.

Straughan was instrumental in several of TOWER's most important business successes including the adoption of TOWER's TRIM product by the US Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) (320,000 seats), by Shell International world-wide (120,000 seats) and, as the most successful Office of Government Information Technology (OGIT) Records Management Systems panel contractors, by the Australian Federal Government. Straughan also played a key role in the lead up to the acquisition of TOWER Software by Hewlett-Packard. After the acquisition Straughan continued with Hewlett-Packard as the Director of TRIM development team and as an advisor to the HP Information Management CTO's team.

Straughan Schofield said “the obsecure technology provides a simple, very effective, and critically needed ability for systems such as HP TRIM, SharePoint, Open Text Content Server, and many more, to distribute information securely to recipients outside the organisation.

"Most importantly, this is done in a way that preserves the organization's business rules, generates audit trails and supports the record management policies implemented by the organisation’s Electronic Document and Records Management  systems.

"In light of the pressures placed on business by increasing attacks and, now, the demands of the new privacy legislation, obsecure's technology and its approach represent a real opportunity.”

“We are thrilled that Straughan Schofield has agreed to join the obsecure Board of Directors as he brings experience that will be invaluable to grow the company and extend the functionality of the technology,” stated Philip Cuff, Chairman of obsecure.

“Clearly, Straughan’s wealth of experience with the technology, market and contacts will be extremely valuable as we execute on our growth strategy.”
