August 16th, 2007: Kingston technologies have expanded its Secure Digitial High Capacity (SDHC) memory card with the addition of the 4 GB mini SDHC.

Memory technology company, Kingston is targeting the new 4 GB mini SDHC devices at new mobile phone and digitial devices being released with higher memory demands. The cards will be able to hold 2,000 images, 750 digital music tracks or 4.5 hours of MPEG4 video, further expanding the previous Kingston mini SDHC capacity by double.

The technology is aimed at solving the needs of next generation mobile phones, PDA’s and mp3 players who require “higher data transfer rates, increased storage and smaller form factor expansion memory” said Vaughan Nankivell, regional manager, Australia/New Zealand, Kingston.

The cards will be available in class 2, 4 and 6 speed ratings, which are 2mb/sec, 4mb/sec, 6mb/sec respectively. The prices of the new mini’s range from $134 to $138 depending on this speed classification.

According to Nankivell, the new cards will be able to sate the “storage-hungry advanced features of these next generation digital devices”. Kingston is currently the largest independent manufacturer of memory products worldwide.
