Ridata Releases SSDs

August 21, 2007: The march of solid state disk (SSD) storage technology continues with Advanced Media’s Ridata announcing the release of its latest 1.8” SSD.

Designed for telecommunications, industrial, military and data acquisition systems, Ridata’s SSDs function as direct plug-in replacements for traditional hard drives, and as with other solid state solutions, it is significantly more rugged.

According to the company, the 16GB drive produces virtually no noise, no heat generation, and no vibration and remains reliable in operating temperatures from 0 to 70C.

“Based on flash-memory technology, our new Ridata SSD offers an exceptionally fast read time, plus rugged, high-performance in harsh environments,” said Harvey Liu, president of Advanced Media.

“When compared to a traditional HDD, the Ridata SSD is more power efficient, weighs less than half as much, offers faster boot and access times, and operates at a lower temperature with no mechanically moving parts.”

The drive is available now for US$399.00 (AU$497).
