Hitachi Encrypts Dell Notebooks

May 11, 2007: Hitachi is rolling out shipments of its latest notebook hard drives, boasting not only high capacities and performance, but build in data encryption technology for heightened security.

Hitachi says the new 200GB, 7200 RPM K200 Travelstar features double the capacity and a 22 percent jump in performance on its last line.

Next to this the drive also features optional hard-drive level “Bulk Data Encryption” technology to guard against data loss and piracy.

The drives will be making their premier in new systems from Dell and Alienware, featuring on Dell’s current XPS notebook line, and on all Alienware notebooks.

“Today’s technology enthusiasts demand performance from every facet of their notebook computer,” says Neil Hand, vice president, Dell’s worldwide consumer marketing product group.

“Incorporating best-in-class features, like the high-performance Travelstar 7K200, underscores Dell and Alienware’s commitment to meet and exceed our mobile customers’ expectations.”
