Dell Brings the Rain with Data Centre Solution

April 4, 2007: Dell has christened their brand spanking new Dell Data Center Solutions Division by launching the Dell Cloud ComputingTM Solution.

Dell’s first product to come out of their Data Centre unit works to provide data centre optimisation by increasing energy efficiency and lowering deployment and overall management overhead costs.

The solution works best for data-intensive customers with an IT infrastructure or ‘computer cloud’ that operates as the ‘factory’ for their business. Prime targets in this potential customer range include major providers of goods or services over the internet, government agencies, laboratory environments, universities and financial services organisations.

“The infrastructure requirements of Web 2.0 companies are distinctive and differ in many ways from the needs of traditional enterprise IT customers,” says matt Eastwood, program vice president at IDC. “The Data Center Solutions Division has been created to offer this growing customer segment access to IT infrastructure solutions tailored for their unique business requirements.

Dell says their famous ‘build to order model’ will be stepped up to ‘design to order’ with customised hardware and service solutions built into an organisation’s IT infrastructure to optimise the performance of applications. The Clound Computing solution offers capacity planning for the Data centre, the designed to order hardware, customised servicing and component optimisation.

With the Cloud solution available in the US as of this week, Australian businesses may have to wait a little longer to access the customised data centre.
