Brocade Builds on Interoperability

April 24, 2007: Brocade propelled its Brocade Access Gateway to be interoperable with HP BladeSystems and other SAN switch and director offerings.

As N_Port ID Virtualisation (NPIV) technology is incorporated into the Access Gateway, the standardisation of the technology by the T11 Technical Committee for virtualising multiple SAN devices makes the Gateway more accessibly to customers.

The result of the standardisation means not only greater interoperability and scalability, but also improved SAN management and reduced costs for customers.

According to Tom Buiocchi, VP at Brocade, Brocade’s relationship with HP has been further enhanced to develop the integration of blade servers into the data centre as a means to enable reductions in acquisitions and operating costs.

With Brocade a member of the HP Solution Builder program, Mark Potter, VP BladeSystem Division at HP, says the work from Brocade is making the BladeSystem more time-smart and change ready.

“With the availability of the Access Gateway feature for the Brocade 4Gb SAN switches for HP BladeSystem products, HP can offer customers simpler and more interoperable SAN connectivity,” says Potter.
