Internode Celebrates with Second Data Centre

April 24, 207: Internode has celebrated it $100 million turnover landmark by launching a spanking new data centre in Adelaide.

With business showing no signs of letting off steam, the South Australian broadband provider goes on record as state’s first Internet company to break $100 million barrier.

Internode launched its second data centre in Adelaide this week as a means to keep up with growing demand. Internode says the facility will lift capacity by 400 percent and boost its existing facility for disaster recovery services, internet server location services and Web hosting solutions.

The facility’s location once house Westpac’s Cheque Processing Centre allowing Internode to inherit state-of-the-art security, networking and fire suppression systems. Incorporating a $500,000 fibre-cross-connected multi-terabyte Sun SAN, the $3 million facility has been built across a 1000 square metre space.

Internode says with two facilities not running to complement each other, they will now be able to duplicate their core routing, switching and server assets adding recovery processes in the event of a major disruption or catastrophic loss.

In March, Internode signed its 100,000th broadband customer. While it heavily services the consumer space it also boosts large organisations such as the South Australian Government, Royal Flying Doctor Service and Bianco Building Supplies as customers.

Internode has also combined forces with VoIP application software provider BroadSoft to launch NodePhone2, Internode’s second generation VoIP service.
