Storewiz Goes Next on Data Compression

March 6, 2007: Storewiz has announced its third-generation data compression appliances, designed to provide impressive compression rates while not interfering with the performance of network connected applications.

They’re calling it the STN-6000 product line and Storewize says it will enable data-intensive organisations to maximise their growing network infrastructure at just a fraction of their current costs. Overall, the latest release is offering an improved data compression ratio of an average 10 percent greater than what was provided in the previous STN-5000 line.

The enhancements include a new multi-core compression architecture, state-of-the-art processors, more efficient algorithms, the improved compression ratio as well as a range of other improvements for meet the growing data needs of the enterprise.

According to Brad O’Neil, a senior analyst with Taneja Group, it’s a move that has Storewiz leaded the market in primary storage capacity optimisation. “Storewiz is demonstrating to enterprise IT that optimising application data in real-time with advance compression software is a very high value function,” he says. “Not only can it reduce primary storage costs and improve storage utilization, it also plays a key role in improving storage performance as well.”

The two products to spring from the STN-6000 line include the STN-6300, designed for the department or remote office and the STN-6500, suited more to meet the scalability requirements of enterprise business and technical applications.

Storewiz says its latest release continues its lead in data compression technology. Overall, the STN-6000 has an improve data compression ratio of an average 10 percent greater that what was offered in the STN-5000
