Fujitsu Unveils New PRIMERGY Servers

July 6th, 2006: Fujitsu has announced the release of five new servers featuring built-in virtualisation technology.

The built-in virtualisation will, according to Fujitsu, provide data centre administrators with new options for consolidating their infrastructures to address power, cooling, and real estate cost challenges. The new servers are powered by Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000 and 5100 processors and offer upgraded disk and memory subsystems.

Group Vice President & General Manager at IDC, Vernon Turner, says, “To avoid the cost of building new data centres, companies are increasingly demanding solutions that allow them to wring more computing power from their existing real estate. Virtualisation is the key enabling technology of a consolidation strategy that not only conserves real estate, but also has the potential to drive down data centre power and cooling costs”.

The servers also include a new integrated Remote Management Controller, which Fujitsi says offers more efficient control to simplify server management and save time. PRIMERGY will be available in July 2006 with pricing starting at AU $3,715.
