May 8, 2008: Citrix has announced that XenServer will be factory integrated into Dell PowerEdge servers.

Citrix will be packaging XenServer Dell Express Edition and XenServer Dell Enterprise Edition as part of the push to integrate Virtualisation at the factory level. The new solution looks to capitalise on quick start-up with an embedded hypervisor and high performance on both Intel and AMD chipsets.

“Dell is dedicated to simplifying IT for our customers and our partnership with Citrix enables us to further ease the complexity of Virtualisation,” said Rick Becker, vice president of solutions, Dell Product Group.

Citrix points out that the XenServer Dell editions are the only Virtualisation solutions with integrated Dell management agent technology.

“Virtualisation and Management Division, Citrix. “It is an exciting time for Virtualisation technology as it becomes a natural extension of the hardware platform, enabling companies of all sizes to easily and affordably increase server and storage utilisation, while reducing equipment and energy costs,” said Peter Levine, senior vice president and general manager, Virtualisation and Management Division, Citrix.

PowerEdge servers with factory-integrated Citrix Xenservers are shipping now, more information is available at Dell's Website.
