Dell and VMware Team up on DR

May 14, 2008: Dell and VMware are working together on a new integrated virtual data centre solution to smooth disaster recovery.

Dell has announced that it has integrated its EqualLogic storage arrays with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), automating DR management in virtual infrastructures. Dell says that this enables it to deliver a complete end-to-end DR automation and management solution.

The company adds that VMware SRM enables non-disruptive, automated testing of recovery plans and automates the recovery process itself using “SAN-based data volumes replicated to the remote site by native PS Series Auto-Replication software.”

Both Auto-Replication and the SRM Storage Adapter are provided with every PS Series array, helping to reduce the cost and complexity of implementing DR according to Dell.
