Hitachi Data Systems fills Fox hole

Storage vendor Hitachi Data Systems has appointed a new head for Australia and New Zealand, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Andrew Fox in September.

Michael Cremen will take the reins as general manager for the Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) region, officially starting his appointment January 1, 2003.

Mr Cremen, who has been with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) for more than nine years, will relocate to Australia from the New Jersey office where has held the position of district manager for the last three years.

“I am delighted with the opportunity to work with the Hitachi Data Systems team in Australia and New Zealand particularly as the organisation is already achieving such success. Storage is growing very quickly in this region and I am looking forward to being a part of its development," Mr Cremen said.

Bruce Symes, acting general manager of HDS said Cremen, with his experience in the US, will bring valuable strategic vision and inspiration to the local organisation.

"Undoubtedly, Michael will compliment the expertise and talent we already have in Australia and New Zealand, resulting in a solidified Hitachi Data Systems who thinks global but acts local. One of his first priorities will be to continue to strengthen the relationships we have with customers, channel partners, technology piers and within the team internally," Mr Symes said.

Mr Symes will remain acting general manager for HDS Australia and New Zealand until January although Mr Cremen will be actively involved in local operations from now until his official start date, HDS officials said.
