Symantec Announces Visionary Award Winners
August 27, 2008: Symantec has announced the winners for its 2008 Australia and New Zealand Visionary Awards, with IT Leaders from Telstra and HealthAlliance NZ taking home honours.
Announced at its annual Vision + ManageFusion conference this month, Symantec says that Telstra and HealthAlliance NZ have been recognised for their commitment to IT best practices, and innovative use of Symantec products and services to secure and manage infrastructure and information.
Telstra has been recognised for “implementing comprehensive data centre management and enterprise storage solutions”, and did so by standardising core components on Symantec Data Centre Foundation software, including the backup and recovery technologies on Veritas NetBackup.
“Telstra has embarked on an aggressive applications and systems decommissioning program over the five-year transformation period. For example, major legacy billing, sales and marketing, and product applications will be decommissioned as we migrate our customers, services and related data to the new platforms,” said Tom Lamming, transformation and technology, Telstra.
HealthAlliance on the other hand implemented a series of IT projects using Altiris software technologies and consulting services from Symantec, improving productivity by automating processes and gaining greater visibility.
Phil Brimacombe, chief information officer at HealthAlliance NZ says that time spent manually compiling and maintaining an inventory of IT assets was cut by 60 percent.
“Today, Australian and New Zealand organisations are required to develop policies and implement technology solutions that improve operational efficiencies, reduce IT costs, meet regulatory requirements and also address environmental concerns,” said Craig Scroggie, vice president, Pacific region, Symantec.
“This year’s Visionary Award winners demonstrate how they have effectively leveraged Symantec technology to drive business results, improve productivity and minimise IT risk.”
