January 29, 2009: NetApp is promising increased storage efficiency can be delivered by SnapManager 2.0 for SharePoint Server 2007.
It automatically discovers and monitors all data associated with SharePoint Server farms and flags any new and/or unprotected data that needs to be provisioned.
SnapManager can also be used to set up automatic backup policies that protect the data on an ongoing basis, or protect or recover any size database in a few minutes.
Another function is the ability to streamline development and testing for customised SharePoint Server environments. This functionality, which leverages NetApp FlexClone technology, provides the ability to develop a customised portalthat can be tested in a safe environment without risking impact to operations.
“Due to the sheer increase in data managed by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, protecting that data has become both more important and more challenging,” said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at NetApp.
