HDS extends storage management software
April 30, 2009:Three new software offerings from Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) are designed to provide an extended management view beyond the storage system:an IT Operations Analyzer, Virtual Server Reporter, powered byAPTARE and the Storage Command Portal.
The Hitachi IT Operations Analyzer is intended as a simple solution to data centre management with integrated monitoring of servers andIP networks along with Fibre Channel (SAN) networks, LAN and storage systems. It features automated root cause analysis, network visualisation,agentless architecture to support simple deployment and a web-based interface.
The Hitachi Virtual Server Reporter, powered by APTARE, provides a complete end-to-end view of virtualised VMware servers and their respective storage usage. The new software, targeted at enterprise customers, extends the capabilities of heterogeneous storage management reporting to individual virtual machines within a VMware virtual server environment. By integrating reporting of virtual servers, customers can increase the visibility of their virtual environments and more effectively manage their storage and backups, allowing them to optimize utilization of storage assets and decrease costs.
The Hitachi Storage Command Portal consolidates storage reporting within the Hitachi Storage Command Suite of management software to align Hitachi storage assets with the business applications that rely on them. The solution provides a business application view of the Hitachi storage environment with advanced business centric capacity and performance reporting to help manage service level objectives.
