Leopard Leaves Virgins Stranded

Leopard Leaves Virgins Stranded

By Nathan Statz

October 29, 2007: Apple’s latest lovechild, the Leopard Operating system has left users of Virgin’s mobile broadband offering out in the cold as the service runs into compatibility issues.

According to a Virgin spokesperson on Whirlpool the Globetrotter Connect software which comes with the Virgin mobile broadband USB modem is not working with Leopard.

It should be pointed out that this problem only effects Virgin users on the Mobile Broadband service, users of the Virgin broadband at home service are unaffected by the problem.

Virgin now joins Filemaker as being incompatible with Leopard, or Mac OSX 10.5 and it’s unclear as to whether or not this trend will continue. Apple has already released a day one patch for Leopard to address issues relating to upgrading from Mac OSX 10.1, problems with the Wi-Fi software and trouble with the optional security program for documents, Filevault.

It is not known when the problem may be fixed, but Virgin are reportedly working with the manufacturer on a solution says the Virgin spokesperson.
