Motorola's new mobile range
Motorola is addressing mobile computing options inside the enterprise with its new MC3100 series, designed for key-based and touch-screen applications, such as price/stock management, inventory control and asset management.
Priced from $A1754.50 to $A3194.50 depending on configuration, each model offers a choice of operating systems and advanced data capture technologies. Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 provides a wide array of ISV applications and a familiar interface, while Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Pro provides a familiar programming environment to support the development of rich custom applications with intuitive user experiences.
The Symbol SE950 1D laser scanner is also available for the rapid and accurate capture of all 1D symbologies including damaged and poor quality bar codes; or, the Symbol SE4500 1D/2D imager for the capture of bar codes as well as direct part marks, still images and documents.
The MC3100 also incorporates Motorola MAX Sensor — enterprise class motion sensing applications. Motorola interactive sensor technology (IST) is a new Motorola innovation that supports a host of motion-sensing applications that enable organisations to derive increased business value.
For example, organisations can increase worker accountability by detecting and logging device drops and improve power management by enabling the MC3100 mobile computer to automatically revert to sleep mode when not in use or if the display is face down. In applications such as signature capture, the integrated accelerometer allows the display to dynamically rotate or switch between portrait and landscape modes based on the orientation of the device.
Leveraging Motorola’s new Mobility Platform Architecture 2.0, the MC3100 series preserves existing application investments by enabling seamless porting of applications from other Motorola mobile computers. In addition, the MPA 2.0 next-generation platform increases wireless security via MAX Secure — which includes FIPS 140-2 certification required for government deployments.
The MC3100 series also offers comprehensive centralised management via an integrated UHF RFID tag, enabling enterprises to leverage existing or planned RFID deployments out of the box. The integrated RFID tag allows users to track the movement and location of the mobile computers to maintain a realtime inventory of assets.
Motorola’s Mobility Suite offers centralised control of the MC3100 and other Motorola mobile computers. Motorola Mobility Services Platform (MSP) enables remote staging, provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting of the MC3100 regardless of where it is located.
