April 10, 2007: Network Appliance has made its debut on the ‘Visionaries’ quadrant in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Storage Resource Management and SAN Management Software 2007.
Gartner says it bases a vendor’s vision on its ability to articulate future product direction convincingly while also demonstrating the move to innovate around customer needs. Gartner judges visions against a vendor’s past ability to execute their previously stated plans.
For NetApp, it’s a debut that goes hand in hand with their ‘Leaders’ position in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Midrange Enterprise Disk Arrays.
“We believe this report validates that storage resource and SAN management capabilities have become increasingly important and strategic for enterprise storage purchase decisions,” says Elisa Steele, VP of corporate marketing at NetApp.
In the storage arena particularly, Gartner says the complexity of the industry means vendors need innovative approaches to distinguish themselves from competitors and please customers.
