Marshal Filters for Security

March 7, 2007: Security firm Marshal has released its Filtering List, comprises of a database of over 60 million websites, for Web security and management through a single, policy-based framework.

Marshal says it’s the largest filtering list of its kind in the world, obliterating the nearest URL filter on the market by being three times as large. The filter sorts websites into 55 categories of related content, with the software enabling administrators to not only minimise security risk, but also place a control on standards and policies around employee Internet use.

According to Nick Hawkins, vice president of Marshal, Asia Pacific, the filter provides a tool for stamping out web-bourne threats while optimising employee productivity.

“The number of new stories about companies that have not protected their businesses from workplace pornography and ‘cyber-bludging’ is growing by the day, and underlines the need for companies to take these very real threats more seriously,” says Hawkins.

The filter is available immediate as an add-on module for WebMarshal. The Filter List is automatically updated daily with around 250,000 revised entries.
