Australian Unity’s Direct Approach

February 7, 2007: DataDirect Technologies says Australian Unity has experienced a 50 percent increase in database access performance since working with DataDirect distributor, Baobab Software.

Australian Unity, a national health, financial and retirement living organisation, turned to Baobab in search of available DataDirect ODBC drivers. The organisation was gearing up to revamp their IT environment and improve their data warehousing/business intelligence by extracting Informix data to a SQL server database.

But after realising their native Informix driver provided a small amount of incorrect data, Australian Unity researched the market and decided to test DataDirect technologies.

Grant Gebert, general manager for Baobab Software says the DataDirect ODBC driver performance testings were highly successful. “Thorough performance and stress-testing was carried out and the DataDirect ODBC drivers passed these very satisfactorily – increasing performance by 50 percent.”

After providing the technical expertise with DataDirect connectivity solutions, Gebert says implementation at Australian Unity was carried out in a number of hours. After the successful testing results, Australian Unity will now use DataDirect Connect for ODBC drivers as well as DataDirect JDBC drivers on future projects.
