Trend Micro Updates SMB Security

February 1st, 2007: Trend Micro is doing its bit for SMBs in the security fight, announcing this week that it has added spyware and rootkit protection to its range of solutions.

With its new Client Server Security and Messaging Security for SMB 3.5, the company claims it can now provide small to medium sized businesses with integrated protection against web-threats including spyware, rootkits and bots.

Trend Micro says that these two additions build upon previous versions by extending all-in-one integrated protection against malicious, emerging web-threats with a powerful new anti-spyware engine.

“Infection by malicious web-threats can severely impact productivity and an all-in-one solution with automated protection can help minimise the time businesses might otherwise spend worrying about the possible damage caused by such threats,” says Dave Patnaik, Trend Micro's Director of Small and Medium Business, Australia and New Zealand.

Trend Micro boasts that the new versions feature protection against web-threats such as spyware, rootkits, bots and phishing, and include enhanced anti-spam functionality via advanced heuristics, faster updates, and new server-side quarantine features.

“According to our customer research, small business customers acknowledged that web threats have evolved and are highly sophisticated, and without dedicated security experts on hand small organisations can find many security solutions too complex for their needs,” commented Patnaik. “By providing a specifically dedicated, easy-to-install product to customers, channel partners are able to maximise their return on sales revenue while providing a fast efficient support service to their customers.”

As far as pricing goes, Client Server Security for SMB 3.5 is available for AUD$54.72 while Client Server Messaging Security for SMB 3.5 comes in at AUD$74.87. Price is per user for 50 users.
