Windows XP SP3 RTM Out

By Greg McNevin

April 24, 2008: It’s official: Windows XP SP3 has now been released to manufacturing and will be available to OEMs and enterprise customers from April 29.

The widely anticipated release marks the last major update for Microsoft’s popular operating system, and includes all previous updates, bugfixes and security patches, as well as a range of enhancements and new features.

New features include the network policy enforcement platform Network Access Protection and other improvements that Microsoft claims will make it easier to manage Windows XP and Vista within the same corporate environment.

The public release via Microsoft’s update service is scheduled for “early summer” in the US, while Microsoft is expected to be announcing further details and SP3 online documentation on April 29.
