Microsoft Hyper-V Nears Final Stage

March 25, 2008: Microsoft has pulled a new release candidate out of its virtualisation sleeve as the road to the final release of Hyper-V draws near.

Having been bundled with Windows Server 2008, Microsoft’s Hyper-V beta release was the talk of the town and has put increased focus on virtualisation technology. Now the talk is set to heat up once again with a new release candidate of Hyper-V hitting the Microsoft website and bringing with it near-final code.

The main improvements the latest installment brings are improved stability, usability and improved performance. There has also been a boost in the number of operating systems supported with Windows Server 2003 SP2,Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XPSP3 all making the grade.

The world’s largest software company has confidence that the final release of Hyper-V is well on the way to making its August debut, well inside the previously stated 180 days after the Windows Server 2008 release.
