StorageTek and FalconStor form broad alliance

Storage services and systems provider StorageTek has signed a wide ranging agreement with network storage infrastructure software developer FalconStor, covering product, reseller and service offerings for disk replication and mirroring.

The initial stages of the agreement will see both companies develop a StorageTek branded heterogeneous replication and mirroring appliance which will allow the integration of StorageTek's disk portfolio into the customer's existing infrastructure.

In turn, StorageTek will resell FalconStor's IPStor suite of products, which provide storage services for enterprise applications within a SAN infrastructure.

The third aspect of the agreement concerns professional services, which enables the StorageTek professional services team to leverage IPStor software to undertake enterprise data migration projects.

"This series of agreements advances the relationship between StorageTek and FalconStor and opens the door for further product development," says Philip Belcher, Managing Director for StorageTek Australia / New Zealand. "This alignment is consistent with our Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) strategy, which enables enterprises to understand and quantify the value of information as it migrates along its lifecycle from creation to deletion in order to optimise the storage infrastructure. FalconStor products are emerging to play a key role in this strategy."

"The strategic partnership with StorageTek clearly demonstrates our mutual commitment to delivering superior business continuity solutions," adds David Thrum, FalconStor Regional Director, Australia / New Zealand. "The joint development arrangement will allow us to leverage each other's engineering talent to create innovative products with compelling TCO and ROI characteristics."
