Module adds backbone to Windows DR

BakBone Software has released a new software module to assist in disaster recovery of Windows-based systems.

The VaultDR Online Client Application Plugin Module gives system administrators the option to create a "block-by-block disaster recovery image" of Windows NT and Windows 2000 clients without having to take the system off-line, according to the company.

The module would enable recovery of all application and operating system data in case of emergency in a "bare metal restore", including systems settings, partition data and applications, said BakBone. The module includes a version of the Open File Manager application from St. Bernard Software, which the companies said would allow storage managers to "easily embed live data protection technology" into backup systems.

BakBone's applications are most often used to protect systems running DB2, Informix, Oracle, Sybase, SQL and SAP databases.
