Novell and EMC secure joint offering

Novell and EMC Corporation have bundled their strengths to offer a joint security and storage solution to help customers secure information stored on their corporate PCs and laptops.
The vendors claims that the combination of Novell iFolder and EMC Automated Networked Storage will avoid costly data loss by backing up and securing corporate data without relying on action by the end user, thereby ensuring business continuity.
According to Novell and EMC, many companies rely on end users to back up data. Novell iFolder backs up critical data to EMC Symmetrix and CLARiiON networked storage systems to ensure user files are secure and protected.
EMC said automated networked storage saves on costs due to increased server consolidation, and increases storage utilisation rates and enhanced business continuity through instant restore and automated backup capabilities.
In addition, when implemented with Novell iFolder, EMC Automated Networked Storage puts critical data at the center of the business to ensure the availability of critical files to users. Novell claims that iFolder makes user files always available on any Internet-enabled machine and synchronises those files across all types of networks and on any computer the user chooses, so a user has access to the latest information wherever he or she may be.
Novell iFolder runs on Linux, Solaris and Windows NT/2000 as well as Novell NetWare.
The combined solution is available through existing Novell and EMC sales channels.
