Apace Announces Octopa Data System

August 14, 2008: Storage and dataflow specialist Apace has announced the arrival of its Octopa Data system, heralding the solution as the world’s first platform for heterogeneous storage & project management, collaboration and workflow.

The company describes Octopa as a next generation, web-based data storage platform specifically designed for collaboration, project management, and communications. It says it enables interactive global reach for postproduction and storage consolidation workflows, while providing media data control and management beyond a single system.

Apace claims Octopa covers facility-wide collaboration, projects and storage consolidation via its tentacles for SAN islands, NAS systems and local storage for data protection, productivity, and remote collaboration.

The company says the overall goal of the platform is to offer centralised management working with heterogeneous storage from different vendors and architecture, and as such can support multiple storage systems, applications an platforms simultaneously.

It also supports collaboration of multiple uncompressed HD, 2K/4K workflows, and advanced data protection for storage consolidation/instant backup and archival services for SAN/DAS/NAS workgroup islands.
