August 13, 2009:Global TV programming giant Endemol, producer of the Big Brother series, has turned to a SharePoint solution from ZyLAB to manage the entertainment organisation’s vast amount of unstructured project data

Like many organisations, Endemol stored documents and information in various formats (both electronically and on paper) throughout the organisation. There was no central repository for locating information quickly.

Endemol turned to ZyLAB which delivered several scanner bundles to digitise the physical documents and store them to the ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform. The ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform has been extended with the Share Point Connector and the Contract Management Module for Share Point.

Endemol projects are now created within SharePoint and when a project has been delivered and closed, the owner of the project automatically receives a checklist of all the required documents for archiving. After going through the checklist the entire SharePoint portal is archived. In this archive environment the ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform functions as the document store.

In a daily batch process the ZyIMAGE connector moves all the document out SharePoint to the ZyIMAGE environment. Only the links to the ZyIMAGE environment remains in the SharePoint archive.

All of the captured information is stored in open XML, eliminating the need to use a database and ensuring proprietary technology is not needed to access the information.
