MetaVis releases Migrator for SharePoint

MetaVis Technologies has launched its MetaVis Migrator for SharePoint to copy content between SharePoint servers, including SharePoint 2003, 2007 and 2010, and file systems while retaining critical metadata information.

It ensures that all content characteristics and tags such as document properties, column values and version history are retained and easily searchable.

"Today many companies are looking to reorganise and migrate content that is in disparate SharePoint repositories into one central repository for improved manageability and search," said Steven Pogrebivsky, CEO and Co-founder of MetaVis Technologies.

"MetaVis Migrator simplifies the entire process by using a familiar Windows Explorer interface allowing users to drag and drop items into the new SharePoint system. This ultimately reduces the cost, time and risk with content migration."

Users can easily load files from network drives and classify legacy or imported content to unlock the full potential of SharePoint search and navigation. MetaVis Migrator does not require any components or agents installed on the SharePoint server making it ideal for secure hosted environments.

Additional features in MetaVis Migrator for SharePoint include:
-- Copy multiple selected items between folders, lists, sites or servers and simultaneously change or keep content types and column values;
-- Copy entire sites (with sub-sites), lists and libraries along with their content types and columns while retaining version history;
-- Load files and folders from file system to SharePoint library in bulk while assigning them a content type and column values;
-- Change content types and assign column values for multiple selected documents or list items;
-- Assign values to mandatory columns during file copy; and
-- Save rules for column mapping as templates for re-use in the future.
