Microsoft has announced its first Windows RT Surface Tablet PC will be available on October 26 and it s accepting preorders in Australia for three versions at www.Surface.com.

Surface with Windows RT tablets do not run full Windows applications, only those available on the upcoming Windows Store. There will be three models available: a 32GB version priced at $A559.00, a 32GB version bundled with a black Touch Cover priced at $A679.00, and a 64GB version bundled with a black Touch Cover priced at $A789.00. A variety of accessories will also be available, including Touch Covers in five colours — black, white, magenta, cyan and red — priced at $A139.99. A black Type Cover which adds moving keys for a more traditional typing feel is$A149.99.

The tablets will be preloaded with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT Preview (which includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote).
