Dell, SAP lower cost and increase performance

Dell has established a new partnership with SAP to provide cheaper and higher performing services to maximise the support and management of servers for end-users.

Michael Dell said that this collaboration was necessary because customers are increasingly turning to Dell for scalable, standardised systems in the data centre, including those for business-critical applications from SAP.

The CEO of SAP, Henning Kagermann, said that the expanded suite of professional services provided by Dell will help companies use the SAP software plan and make transitions from Unix servers to Dell servers running the Linux operating system or Microsoft's Windows.

It will also allow customers to switch between different databases, and Dell will become the first point of contact for joint Dell-SAP customers who need technical support for problems relating to SAP software on Dell servers.

Michael Dell said. "Dell And SAP share a vision to make enterprise technology and business solutions more scalable by simplifying operations and engineering for flexibility. The enterprise data centre is transitioning to standards and customers are looking to Dell and SAP for price and performance leadership."

Kagermann added. "Through the SAP NetWeaver integration and application platform, we strive to provide customers with innovative software solutions that reduce costs, achieve rapid ROI, adapt to company change, and turn I.T. innovation into business value. Dell's focus on value and flexibility with its scalable enterprise vision make them an ideal partner to help deliver on our customer-oriented goals."

In addition, Dell will offer migration assessment and planning to help customers determine technical and operational readiness to migrate operating systems or databases in SAP application environments.
