Financial picture gets clearer for businesses

Companies will be to analyse their financial situation in more depth, providing greater intelligence for forward planning, risk assessments and background information on financial trends behind business results, thanks to a new product released by Business Objects.

The new solution, Finance Intelligence, enables companies to gain critical insight into financial operations and allows them to understand their customers, products, peoples and operations in more detail too.

It contains six modules, including compliance management, cashflow analysis, company cost structures, and financial statement metrics and ratios. It aims to help managers identify problems so they can apply appropriate solutions.

It intends to give managers insights into their net cashflow by analysing outstanding accounts receivable, bad debt and risk assessments, and customer payment history.

Brenton Smith, managing director of Business Objects Australia and New Zealand said. "Historically, companies have focused on automating financial information but have lacked a tool that can identify financial trends of the reasons behind business results. Unlike traditional financial reporting tools, which simply aggregate information into a static summary, our financial applications enable managers to perform detailed analysis that can help improve business performance."

In addition, Business Objects has also announced the availability of Crystal Enterprise 10 on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform, with the support from IBM, to drive business intelligence in the Linux community.

Karen Parrish, vice president of business intelligence solutions at IBM said. "At IBM, we view Linux as a strategic and important market for our customers. Linux is now a mainstream platform and customers are increasingly looking for leading software vendors to develop applications that support Linux. The combination of enterprise-class reporting tools from Business Objects with data warehouse software from IBM provides customers with an integrated Linux platform that enables customers to develop rich end-to-end solutions to meet industry specific needs."
