Queensland empowers workers with TeamSite

The Local Government Association of Queensland will launch its Local Government Online website this week to help 125 local councils across the region to communicate more easily over the execution of tenders.

It is designed as a central place for state and local government information to be shared so that employees can discuss and visualise council projects more efficiently. In addition, it also aims to integrate procurements, ease the billing process and allow staff to identify training needs online.

TeamSite was chosen because it extends access to all business users either at the LGAQ headquarters or at any of the 125 local councils, who could sign up for access to LGOnline. It also includes exclusive access to the State Government intranet, GovNet.

Acting LGAQ President Councillor Paul Bell said. "The LGAQ is delighted with the initial performance of TeamSite. It has proven to offer powerful scalability and ease of use, putting the power of a dedicated enterprise-class content management into the hands of even the smallest local council. TeamSite is also widely used by most Queensland Government departments ensuring familiarity, compatibility and trust across a huge local user base."

"This revolutionary initiative has received an overwhelming response from local government with approximately 80 percent of Queensland Councils subscribing to LGOnline during the trial period."

This service is free for all Queensland Councils on a trial basis until June 30th. After that time, funding from the Department of Communications, Information Technology and Arts will no longer be available. So, only councils that subscribe will be able to receive the service once this periods has passed.

LGOnline will be officially launched at the Civic Leaders Summit by on June 2nd.
