Agfa and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) have announced a global agreement where Agfa, a provider of digital imaging solutions for the healthcare market, will resell HDS' storage systems and services to healthcare providers. The combination will allow healthcare providers to create patient-centric information systems that consolidate data across business units.
Michael Green, vice president global marketing, Agfa HealthCare, described the collaboration between Agfa and Hitachi Data Systems as "another example of Agfa's commitment to provide to our customers a broader range of integrated technologies.
"By teaming with leading technology providers like Hitachi Data Systems, Agfa is able to provide streamlined access to integrated solutions."
The two companies are looking to capitalise on what they describe as an "unprecedented technological transformation" in the worldwide healthcare sector that is "changing the face of patient care as well as the way health sites are managed."
CIO's are faced with an exponentially growing volume of patient information and the need to implement Customer Relationship Management systems, as well as comply with various regulatory requirements. The result is ever-escalating data storage demands which necessitate a new approach for melding IT and medical applications.
As the needs of the global healthcare industry evolve, including cost control and legislative requirements for image and information management and protection, Agfa and HDS believe their collaboration can offer added choice to those hospitals seeking to deploy an integrated PACS/storage strategy.
