LaCie has broken storage barriers by announcing the availability of the first 1TB external hard drive - the LaCie Bigger Disk.

This unique disk combines huge storage space with universal convenience: dual FireWire 800 ports, one FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports. It is also comes in LaCie's versatile d2 design, offering fast 7200 rpm mechanisms and boasting transfer rates up to 800Mbits/sec.

It will be perfect for workgroups sharing large amounts of data, who need it to back up complete systems, plus audio and DV material.

The 1TB Bigger Disk contains 1000GB of storage in a convenient 5.25" form and it does not require drivers for set-up. It can be directly attached to any USB or FireWire equipped PC or workstation and is an easy way to archive and backup huge amounts of information for personal use or to share across a network.

Olivier Mirloup, LaCie's Senior Product Manager, explains why she is very excited about this new product: "The 1TB Bigger Disk delivers high performance and ease-of-use. It is the first plug and play device with 1TB storage in a compact 5.25" desktop unit."
