NetApp announce new products, collaborations
Data storage vendor Network Appliance has introduced a number of new products and announced partnerships with Veritas and Cisco.
Among the products unveiled were the FAS980 and FAS980c storage systems, the latest additions to NetApp's FAS900 fabric attached storage platform.
The company announced that its NetApp gFilter multiprotocol storage appliance now supports unified NAS and SAN consolidation for an expanded set of storage environments, the most notable among them being IBM storage platforms.
Other new additions included the NetApp NearStore R200 storage system and an enhanced version of SnapVault software.
"Over a year ago, we stated that not all data is created equal," said Simon Green, Australia and New Zealand Managing Director for Network Appliance, in reference to the company's "Evolution of Storage" event back in October 2002.
"Over the past year, we have helped and listened to enterprise customers who realise that managing, storing, accessing and protecting different categories of data are critical components of their overall data management strategy."
As well as heralding the launch of its new products, NetApp also shared details of partnerships with Cisco and Veritas.
The company has signed a reseller agreement with Cisco in which NetApp will qualify and tune its unified storage systems with the Cisco MDS 9000 Family of Multilayer Intelligent directors and fabric storage area networking (SAN) switches and sellthem in conjunction with the NetApp enterprise storage portfolio.
Meanwhile, NetApp is also working with Veritas on integrated systems for data lifecycle management, regulatory compliance and disk-based data protection. Additionally, NetApp will resell certain Veritas software products as part of these fully integrated solutions, enhancing the two companies' joint product development and go-to-market programs, which were announced back in August.
