HP wins multi million dollar Amcor Outsourcing contract

HP has settled a five year outsourcing deal worth over $100 million with packaging company Amcor.

Amcor chose HP ahead of other major IT services providers to conclude the contract which will involve management of applications and staff as well as the provision of IT infrastructure. The contract will commence immediately.

Rob Pyne, Group General Manager of Amcor Information Technology said: "Amcor expects this significant IT arrangement will deliver increased levels of service, reliability and availability. Amcor also expects to work closely with HP to evaluate new opportunities for the use of IT to meet its business objectives.

HP is an experienced provider of outsourcing services and we look forward to working closely with the company during the coming years to ensure a close alignment of our business and IT needs."

This is the latest in a number of significant IT services contracts won by HP during the last year.

Other deals include a long-term contract with Vodafone which involves delivering their IT infrastructure as well as maintaining their data centres; being confirmed as Mayne Group's strategic outsourcing partner for the next six years in another multi million dollar deal and providing Norwich Union with managed services to the high profile financial institution.

Pathy Pathmanaban, Vice President of South Pacific HP Services, feels confident that HP has the knowledge and experience in the Australian IT services market to maximise return on IT investment for companies such as Amcor: "By any measure this has been an extremely successful year for HP Services and we look to continue to build on this during 2004."
