LogicaCMG has helped improve Country Energy's operational efficiency through the implementation of a fully integrated GIS, asset and project management system. With over 750,000 customers in regional and metropolitan areas, Country Energy Australia is the largest regionally based energy business within Australia.

The new system, called Asset Management and Operating Support System (AMOSS), has been employed to standardise the multiple systems and applications that were the result of the merging of three energy companies in 2001, to form Country Energy.

The new system combines a geographic information and asset management system and interfaces with other business systems to provide accurate and timely data for field operations, works management, planning and regulatory reporting.

AMOSS can be accessed by all network operations employees throughout New South Wales, allowing better streamlining and management of the value, use and performance of around $7.6 billion (in replacement value) of electricity supply network assets.

According to LogicaCMG's executive director, Geoff Cosgriff, the company was more than likely selected because of the companies experience with similar customers, such as AdvanceEnergy and South West Power.

"The standardisation of Country Energy's network management systems into a single system allows the organisation greater agility and efficiency."
