Canon to put festival goers in the picture
Canon Australia has announced its official support for the City of Sydney and AMP's Art in the Park, a community art event to be held this Saturday, October 18, in Sydney's Hyde Park.
As part of the event, Canon will run complimentary photography sessions offering the opportunity to print results in the company's first open-air digital photo studio. Between 12 noon and 4pm, members of the general public are invited to register for the 20-minute photo sessions led by professional photographers to experience the creative opportunity of taking a digital photo and seeing it printed directly.
A variety of Canon's compact digital cameras will be available to participants for taking photos before connecting these cameras straight to Bubble Jet photo printers and utilising the company's direct printing technology.
Participants' photos will be exhibited on the Canon Clothesline, with the best photo of the day winning home photo equipment valued at over $700. The winner will be awarded a PowerShot A60 digital camera, i450 Bubble Jet photo printer and Photo Paper Pro so they can set-up their own photo lab at home.
"This is a rewarding opportunity for Canon to work with the City of Sydney and AMP while bringing digital photography to life through direct printing," said Stuart Poignand, Marketing Manager, Consumer Imaging Products Group, Canon Australia.

Art in the Park is a one-day event taking place in Hyde Park as part of Art & About, a major visual art event on show in the streets and public places of Sydney's CBD. The event will showcase a number of public art activities including: Canon's public digital darkroom, the Sydney Looking Forward large format photography exhibition, life drawing sessions staged by the National Art School, Paint the Art Wall run by the Pine Street Creative Arts Centre and Kurt Perschke's RedBall Project.
