StorageTek takes another step down ILM road

Storage services and systems provider StorageTek, has introduced the latest addition to its D-Series family of primary disk storage products, comprising part of the vendor's Information Lifecycle Management strategy. Specifically designed for open systems, the D240 – according to StorageTek - delivers the performance, reliability and enhanced data protection of enterprise-class disk solutions to mid-tier/workgroup environments.

"The D240 addresses a primary storage need at the mid-tier for customers who require superior reliability and fast transaction processing. The addition of the D240 to our portfolio allows businesses to solve one of their most pressing business issues," said Philip Belcher, Managing Director for StorageTek Australia / New Zealand. "That means businesses can better manage the flood of information and improve the efficiency of storage operations."

StorageTek's D240 provides 2Gb/second Fibre Channel connectivity to storage area networks (SANs) and direct-attached storage (DAS) architectures. Ideally suited for transaction intensive applications, such as CRM, email and other applications, the D240 performs more transactions in less time to meet service level agreement requirements and enable critical applications to remain 'always on' and available to administrators and/or customers.
