Enterprise storage system provider Network Appliance has signed a number of key partnership agreements to help them facilitate the needs of enterprises around storage compliance, while at the same time announcing the broadening of its own portfolio of enterprise storage solutions.

Application partners in the compliance data space shipping solutions that support its SnapLock Compliance solution include CYA Technologies, Documentum, EDUCOM TS, Enigma Data Systems, KVS, Princeton Softech, IXOS, iLumin, AXS-One and Legato. Others committed to supporting SnapLock Compliance include FileNet, FileTek, Tower Technology, CommVault Systems, OpenText, LaserFiche Document Imaging and Optika.

SnapLock Enterprise is designed for customers who are not required by government regulation to store data as non-erasable or non-rewritable, but want a solution that gives them the assurance that important data and business records will remain accurate, safe from modification and accessible online for the amount of time they deem necessary before choosing to delete or reuse the stored data.

Harry Christian, Director of Marketing and Alliances, South Asia, said the company is ideally placed to help enterprise comply with new regulations, giving their extensive experience in delivering systems that are now deemed essential.

"Generally speaking, storage has become a cheaper proposition in terms of disk storage, which has well and truly become commoditised. What is of value these days, and what we bring to the marketplace is the software in the operating system – how you manage your data as opposed to the price of the disks.

"Storage will continue to grow exponentially, and the vendors who are winning out there are the ones who make it simple to use, simple to roll out and simple to retrieve data when you need it."

Meanwhile, the vendor has also expanded its entry-level storage portfolio through the introduction of new FAS (fabric-attached storage) systems designed for entry-level anddistributed enterprise needs.

According to NetApp, the FAS250, FAS270, and FAS270c (clustered). The new systems provide reliability, centralised management, simplified backup and disaster recovery capabilities, scalability and serviceability.

"Network Appliance is setting a new standard for entry-level enterprise storage systems with our introduction of the FAS200 series," said Mark Santora, senior vice president of Marketing at Network Appliance. "Now customers can enjoy the features and associated benefits of data-centre-class storage in their workgroup and department environmentsfor less than a typical non-scalable workgroup system."
