Legato announce a first in disaster recovery

Storage management provider Legato has introduced the first site-to-site automated disaster recovery and availability system for Exchange

The Legato AAdvanced Continuity solution combines local synchronous Windows data mirroring and wide area asynchronous data replication with the capability of automating restart or failover of Exchange and other Windows application services, either locally or remotely, according to the type of failure that has occurred.

"As a customer using legato Co-StandbyServer's synchronous data mirroring, we are able to ensure local availability of our critical SQL Server 2000 installations. We also use Legato RepliStor asynchronous replication to add real-time worldwide access to distributed data," said Jason Reiner, program manager, Microsoft's Game Studios Network Operations. "Legato AAdvanced Continuity builds on Legato's data mirroring and replication by adding automated recovery of Windows-based application services at remote sites. We see this combination of capabilities as being critical to help protect the Windows environment that we and other enterprises rely upon every day."

Legato has also announced the availability of Co-StandbyServer AAdvanced for Exchange 2000 and 5.5, which automates Exchange local availability and is a separately orderable component of the AAdvanced Continuity bundle.
