EMC says tie-in will boost mid-tier growth

Storage vendor EMC says the distribution agreement it has signed with Express Data will help it to aggressively expand its mid-tier market share.

The deal will see Express Data distribute EMC's CLARiiON CX product suite to the company's 4,000-strong group of channel partners in Australia.

EMC is looking to capitalise on the growing demand for entry-level SAN and NAS systems, with EMC and Express Data providing resellers with the tools to supply medium sized enterprises with networked storage solutions.

"This partnership is the next wave of EMC's channel strategy aimed at establishing relationships with partners to significantly increase EMC's presence in the mid-tier," said David Henderson, general manager, partners and alliance, EMC Australia and New Zealand.

He added: "One of the deciding factors in the selection of Express Data was its logistical set-up, which provides customers with one of the quickest and most efficient delivery services in the industry. All of our current channel partners will benefit from this agreement."

Gavin Lawless, Communications Division Manager, Express Data said the agreement would also be of great benefit to its own plans to play a significant role in the storage market.

"Partnering with the information storage leader will clearly support us inexpanding our opportunities in the information storage market. We will alsocontinue our commitment to delivering solutions on time whilst notcompromising our service and cost-effective pricing.

"EMC's CLARiiON CX series compliments our own product offerings and willensure our resellers receive a high quality of service and products whichmeet customer storage requirements."
